We are bringing ...

Kalamazoo IPA: Brewed (and bottled) at our original brewery in downtown Kalamazoo with local hops grown about 17 miles from the brewery.

Mr. Castries Vilnius: A Jamaican Rum Barrel Aged Baltic Porter

Black Note: A bourbon barrel blend of Expedition Stout and Special Double Cream stout.

Baron von Nordwestlich: A Kölsch style beer

Sparkleberry Ale: A blend of our Sparkling Ale and Raspberry Ale

We will also be pouring Le Bretteur and our Bourbon Barrel Aged Brett Stout at Crooked Stave’s What the Funk Festival on Oct. 11 at the Sherman Street Event Center.

Video: Homebrew Competition and Expo recap; winner will be announced on All Stouts Day

Two-hundred-and-two home brewers left the Eccentic Cafe on Saturday with five gallons of our wort each.

And they have until Oct. 26 to submit their entry to our annual homebrew competition. The winner will be announced on All Stouts Day, Nov. 3.

Below is a video recap of the competition kick-off and the Expo which featured Brewer's Supply Group (BSG Handcraft), Blichmann Engineering, Brew Haulers, Coldbreak Brewing, Third Coast Products, Stir Starters, the American Homebrewers Association (AHA), Kalamazoo Libation Organization of Brewers (KLOB) and Fetzer Farms.

Bell's 28th Anniversary celebration includes music, hot dog eating contest, homebrew and more

This Saturday (Sept. 14) we are celebrating our 28th anniversary with a variety of events. Below is a quick rundown. Cheers to 28 years!

4th Annual Bell’s Homebrew Competition Kick-off and Expo

When: 11 a.m. -3 p.m.

Details: The only requirement for the competition is that you use our wort, which is free. Complete details, including deadlines and some answers to commonly asked questions can be found here. The Expo, which is also free to attend, will feature Brewer's Supply Group (BSG Handcraft), Blichmann Engineering, Brew Haulers, Coldbreak Brewing, Third Coast Products, Stir Starters, the American Homebrewers Association (AHA), Kalamazoo Libation Organization of Brewers (KLOB) and Fetzer Farms.

Ein Prosit!

When: 1-3 p.m.

Details: The German style band “that only plays happy music.” Free to watch and dance. For more, go here.

7th Annual Hot Dog Eating Contest

When: 4 p.m.

Details: Signing up gets you a free t-shirt, all the hot dogs you can handle and quite possibly some well deserved glory (last year’s record was eighteen to help you mentally prepare). New this year is a women’s division. The winners also get a trophy and a Bell’s gift card.

$1 off beers

When: All day

Details: Wear Bell’s apparel and get the discount.

Brewery tours

When: 1:30 p.m., 2:30 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. in Comstock only. Kalamazoo tours will resume on Sunday.

The Macpodz (wsg Brant Losinski of Rootsand) will perform in the Back Room. Cover is $7 and the show starts at 9:30 p.m.
