Some exciting news from one of our newest beers: Lager for the Lakes has won gold at the 2023 World Expo of Beer in the Standard American Lager category.
“We’re super excited any time one of our new products is recognized,” said Andy Farrell, Bell’s Brewery brewmaster. “It’s a new approach to lager brewing for us, and it’s a great drinking beer, so it’s extra nice to have the recognition come from our home state.”
Lager for the Lakes is a new American Lager that captures everything we love about the Great Lakes region. With a crisp, refreshing mouthfeel and clean finish, Lager for the Lakes (4.8% ABV) is a timeless, easy-drinking beer that puts you in a lake state of mind, wherever you are.
“I want to call out the great work the Innovation Brewing and production teams did on this as well,” Andy added, “including Pat Tkacz for the recipe development.”
In addition to being a great beer, Lager for the Lakes is committed to water conservation and stewardship. The name is intentional: it’s a reminder that great beers require clean water. In 2022, we donated more than $100,000 to organizations focused on water conservation and stewardship. Lager will continue that advocacy, one pint at a time.
Also, at the World Expo of Beer, our First Friday IPA won Gold in the Specialty category, and our Porter won Bronze in the American Porter and Stout category.
In addition, Upper Hand, our sibling brewery in the Upper Peninsula, won:
- Gold for Laughing Fish in the Pale Bitter European category
- Gold for Yooper in the Pale Commonwealth category
- Silver for Deer Camp in the Standard American Lager category
- Silver for Upper Hand Lager in the International Lager category
- Silver for Laughing Fish in the Czech Lager category
Congratulations to all the winners!
