Kaitlin Rose Album Release wsg The Hired Hands ($5)
Long time Kalamazoo musician and singer-songwriter, Kaitlin Rose, is releasing her much anticipated new full-length album, The Other Side. Since writing the album, Kaitlin has performed the material nearly non-stop and prayed for the "just right," musicians to accompany her. Well, the magic happened and she has assembled one heck of a band, transforming her coffee shop folk sound into a fusion of eclectic and acoustic with country, blues and good 'ole rock and roll. Kalamazoo roots act The Hired Hands support.

Elephant Revival wsg Barn On Fire ($15)
That simple line atop Elephant Revival’s Facebook page contains only five words, but reveals volumes about the band’s reason for being. Music unites us in ways that no other medium can. Even when we don’t understand one another’s languages — we can be moved by a rhythm, soothed by a song. Brought together by a unified sense of purpose — the spirit of five souls working as one, in harmony, creating sounds they could never produce alone. The five souls in Elephant Revival are Sage Cook (banjo, guitar, mandolin, tenor banjo, bass and fiddle); Bridget Law (fiddle, octave fiddle); Bonnie Paine (washboard, djembe, musical saw, stompbox); Daniel Rodriguez (guitar, banjo, bass); and Dango Rose (double-bass, mandolin, banjo). All share vocals and write songs. Paine delivers additional beats via footstomps on plywood, her stockinged feet doing near jigs as her hands, encased in antique leather gloves, rub silver nickel against corrugated metal.

The Diggity Record Release ($10.00 with CD)
For thirteen years, The Diggity's sound has evolved. Following an exchange of musicians and a wave of new musical influences, the funk-rock monster now highlights the talent of eight individuals from Northwest Indiana that work to create an original sound built on the foundation of diverse musical interests. The group has achieved a new sound over the past few years with additional keyboards, backing vocals, drum samples, collaborative songwriting styles, and most recently a three piece horn section. Quirky-funk-rock music would sum up the sound of The Diggity in the fewest of words. Many genres, including hip hop, blues, and electronica have influenced the music that is not only performed live by the group but recorded locally in northwest Indiana. They have self produced and locally recorded three albums to date, and are about to release their fourth EP "Pumphouse" this June 2015! A powerful live performance and unique on-stage antics with crowd participation has found The Diggity touring around the Midwest, playing frequently at music festivals, clubs, and breweries in both Indiana and neighboring states. Check 'em out!

Will Sessions wsg Dezert Eez, DC Lavender ($7)
Originally formed in a Detroit basement in 2007 as a solo project, Will Sessions has quickly evolved into a solid core of musicians adept at shifting effortlessly between rare funk, hip hop, jazz-fusion and soul music. On a typical night you can catch the band on their principal instruments delivering funk as fiery as any rare 45 and in the next set see them manning an array of synthesizers and samplers, playing note for note versions of hip hop bangers, but totally live. The ensemble is led by it's founder, trumpeter Sam Beaubien, who not only also handles keyboard duties, but is the principal writer, producer and arranger. The sound is driven by the propulsive rhythmic core of energetic drummer Bryan Arnold, the dymanic bass playing of Tim Shellabarger and the toneful approach of guitarist Ryan Gimpert. The lineup is rounded out by Eric Kacir (percussion), Justin Jozwiak (sax/flute), Matt Martinez (trombone), and Tom Parks (trumpet). Not long after coming together, the band settled in as house band at Detroit’s now-legendary Motor City Funk Night (voted the country’s best party by Paper magazine) where they regularly kept the wildly expanding crowd dancing into the morning. Soon came a series of stunning live collaborations with heavy hitting performers such as Guilty Simpson, Black Milk, Mayer Hawthorne, Slum Village, Elzhi, Amp Fiddler, Dennis Coffey, Monica Blaire, Phat Kat, and Rickey Calloway. Because of their musical flexibility, stellar musicianship, exciting live shows, and knack at making collaborating artists sound their best, Will Sessions has established a reputation as one of the hottest bands in Detroit, effectively bringing musical styles and people together, but compromising little.

Flypaper ($6adv/$8 day of)
With soulful vocals, fiercely elegant guitars, and a high energy rhythm section, Fly Paper never fail to amaze and inspire crowds throughout the country with their original songs. Micaela's voice is often compared to that of Fiona Apple and Norah Jones. Her guitar playing carries on the traditions of Jimi Hendrix, David Gilmore, and Jimmy Page. Bassist Joe Chamberlin fills the space between with a modern rock style grounded in classic rock sensibilities. Sam Rice brings to the drums, the rock groove of Jimmy Chamberlin and the flair of Buddy Rich, while Saxman/Keyboardist Marty McLean puts the sax back in rock one note at a time. The four piece band fuses elements of rock, folk, and blues into an unforgettable musical experience. With catchy songs, command of their instruments, and a powerful stage presence, Fly Paper will be remembered long after the stage lights go out!

The Baseball Project ($15adv/$17 day of)
Formed in 2007 by Scott McCaughey (Young Fresh Fellows, The Minus 5, R.E.M.) and Steve Wynn (The Dream Syndicate, Steve Wynn and the Miracle 3, Gutterball), The Baseball Project began as a way for a couple of fans to pay musical tribute to our national pastime – and maybe score some free baseball all tickets in the process. But The Baseball Project has since blossomed into a full-fledged, much-loved band in its own right, one which currently includes drummer Linda Pitmon (Steve Wynn and the Miracle 3, Zuzu's Petals) and R.E.M.'s Peter Buck and Mike Mills on its official roster, and one whose following and creativity has steadily grown with each release and tour. Along with 17 ace new songs about baseball, 3rd also showcases the band's musical muscle in ways that 2008's Volume 1: Frozen Ropes and Dying Quails and 2011's Volume 2: High and Insideonly hinted at. Kris Hitchcock & Small Town Son wsg Jon Timm, Adam Doleac, Bear Creek Brothers ($8adv/$10 day of)
When ASCAP singer/songwriter Kris Hitchcock set out to write his first nationally released album this year, he had four years of 200+ shows and thousands of miles of road to draw from. The hardest working independent artist in the midwest was able to put all those miles and hours behind the wheel to good use in the writing of "American Fire", released in November of 2013. The album is filled with hard won memories, stories, and rock coated country music straight from America's heartland. With a young voice that already holds the maturity and grit of a seasoned rocker, and a pen that knows how to connect to listeners of all ages and backgrounds, Kris is a rising star in the writing and performing world. Joining with Nashville producer Aaron Eshuis, the album explodes out of the speakers. Even at his young age, you can hear the true-life, lived out experiences that Kris writes about.

George Clinton & Parliament Funkadelic ($35adv/$40 day of)
OUTDOOR SHOW in BELL'S BEER GARDEN - RAIN OR SHINE - STANDING ROOM ONLY - Recording both as Parliament and Funkadelic, George Clinton revolutionized R&B during the ’70s, twisting soul music into funk by adding influences from several late-’60s acid heroes: Jimi Hendrix, Frank Zappa, and Sly Stone. The Parliament/Funkadelicmachine ruled black music during the ’70s, capturing over 40 R&B hit singles (including three number ones) and recording three platinum albums. In reviewing Clinton’s illustrious career and success as a producer / writer/ performer, perhaps his greatest achievement stemmed from his relentless dedication to funk as a musical form. Funk as a musical style had been around for what seems like forever, deeply rooted in the music traditions of New Orleans and the Blues of the Deep South. Following the lead – and commercial success – of James Brown and Sly Stone, Clinton took Funk to new heights, blending elements of Jazz, Rock, Pop, Classical and even Gospel into his productions, eventually developing a unique and easily identifiable style affectionately called “Pfunk.” Clinton’s inspiration, dedication and determination resulted in the elevation of “funk” music to complete recognition and acceptance as a true genre in and of itself.

Marshall Crenshaw wsg Cris Jacobs ($20/$25)
Born near Detroit, Michigan, Marshall Crenshaw began playing guitar at age ten and he received his first break playing John Lennon in the off-Broadway company of Beatlemania. In 1987, he played Buddy Holly in the Richie Valens biopic “La Bamba.” While living in NYC, he recorded the single “Something’s Gonna Happen” for Alan Betrock’s Shake Records, which led to a deal with Warner Bros. His debut album, Marshall Crenshaw was acclaimed as a pop masterpiece upon its release in 1982 and established him as a first-rate songwriter, singer and guitarist. The record spawned the Top 40 single “Someday, Someway,” which rockabilly singer Robert Gordon covered and scored a hit with a year earlier, and other classics such as “(You’re My) Favorite Waste of Time,” “Whenever You’re On My Mind” and “Cynical Girl.” Over the course of a career that’s spanned three decades, 13 albums and hundreds of songs, Marshall Crenshaw’s musical output has maintained a consistent fidelity to the qualities of melody, craftsmanship and passion, and his efforts have been rewarded with the devotion of a broad and remarkably loyal fan base. Marshall Crenshaw has recently started releasing his music on a subscription based EP series available only on 10” vinyl and digital download. Each EP consists entirely of newly recorded, never-before-released material, encompassing a new original Crenshaw composition, a classic cover tune, and a new reworking of a time-honored Crenshaw favorite. Marshall is also kept busy touring around the country and hosting his radio show "The Bottomless Pit" every Saturday on WFUV.

Lake Street Dive wsg The Crane Wives ($25adv/$30 day of)
Lake Street Dive have been performing since 2004 after meeting as fellow students at the New England Conservatory in Boston. The band was hand picked by Minneapolis trumpet/guitar player Mike Olson and named after an actual neighborhood of seedy bars in his hometown. Vocalist Rachael Price came from outside Nashville, Tennessee, bassist Bridget Kearney was an Iowa native, while drummer Mike Calabrese called Philadelphia home. “I wasn’t only impressed with their musicianship,” says Olson, who acquired the nickname “McDuck” while at the conservatory for his reclusive ways. “They were also a lot of fun just to hang out with. The first four years of rehearsals were more like glorified dinner parties.” It took a casually made video featuring the band gathered around a single mic, performing a cover of Jackson 5’s “I Want You Back,” shot on a Brighton, Massachusetts, street corner to grab the public’s attention—its YouTube views now hurtling past a million views. What followed next moved very quickly—T Bone Burnett tapped them to perform on the Another Day, Another Time concert at NYC's Town Hall, featuring music from and inspired by the Coen brothers’ Inside Llewyn Davis, taped for Showtime. The New Yorker raved of their Town Hall performance: “I can’t imagine then, that Lake Street Dive—a quartet led by an amazing young singer, Rachael Price—won’t be getting some air time soon.” Rolling Stone called the band “unexpected showstoppers".
